These American Persimmon bare-root plants come in sizes of 6-12" or 12-18" tall. One of the uses for American persimmons is to be used as ornamental trees, given their colorful fruit and intensely green, leathery leaves that purple in the fall. The fruit, also called persimmon, has a bitter, astringent flavor before it ripens. The ripe fruit is a golden orange or red color, and very sweet. American persimmon, also known as common persimmon or possumwood, grows at a moderate rate of about 24 inches per year in wet to dry soil.
